It’s Time Now for us to do our!

The Sep 3rd Meetup is an “Organize to Work” meeting. We will take a short glimpse at the Convention just passed… And… We will get a good picture of how Neighborhood Organizing works. Then the rest of our meeting time: Learn, Organize & Work.

Breakout sessions will include:

Voter Registration – We will review (or teach) the art of Registering. (No special education or knowledge needed). Then we will set up a time and place to meet, to register some voters. We have only a month left to complete this process.

Canvassing (walking) – In addition to Obama, we have state candidates in Kansas &, Missouri, North and South, that need to be elected. We have potential Reps and Senators begging for help to cover their territories. We will talk about what you need to know about canvassing. Then get you scheduled to burn some shoe leather to elect progressives. This takes no great skill, even I can do this. In this weather this is a piece of cake.

Phone Canvassing – We would like to set up a specific “Call Night” for GKCDFA members at the Obama Office. Fran Farah, who has been leading the night time phoning operation at that office, will be there to train and sign you up. Additionally your help is needed at the Kay Barnes office North of the river, and at the Johnson County Obama office plus there are several State Candidates who could use your help too.

And for those of you who want to help in other ways, we hope to have some office work on site for you to do. If there is nothing available that evening we will put you in touch with someone who will put you to work.

We need people! Don’t make us send these jobs overseas!! Mark Warner in his Keynote speech blamed President Bush particularly for not tapping into the resolve of the American people. It’s time for us to step forward and offer that resolve… offer our resolve to aid in this Change. Gov Warner ended with: “WE must make that Future ours”. He is right, and only WE can do that.
